| The Ocean Foundation's unique mission is to support, strengthen, and promote those organizations dedicated to reversing the trend of destruction of ocean environments around the world. The Foundation solicits proposals for specific projects and programs from selected institutions and organizations working in its areas of interest. Due to its small staff, The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals. In addition to making grants to projects of the larger, older marine conservation groups (which have established funding sources), we feel that we can often add more value to ocean philanthropy by identifying individuals and projects that are breaking new ground in smaller, lesser known organizations and not yet receiving the degree of support they need. We also prefer to make larger, multiyear grants where our resources and the grantee's capacity allow, thus enabling grantees to focus on their work rather than spending time fundraising. |

If you would like to make the Foundation aware of the work that you do, please send a one page cover letter and three copies of your organizations information brochure.
