John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation - Illinois & National Focus

The MacArthur Foundation is one of the nation’s largest independent foundations. Through the support it provides, the Foundation fosters the development of knowledge, nurtures individual creativity, strengthens institutions, helps improve public policy, and provides information to the public, primarily through support for public interest media. The Foundation has several programs that include International Program, Domestic Program: Affordable Housing, Community & Economic Development, Digital Media & Learning, Juvenile Justice, Mental Health, Policy Research, Program-Related Investments. Deafness Research Foundation - National Focus
DRF, the leading national source of private funding for basic and clinical research in hearing and balance science, awards research grant awards of up to $25,000 to researchers once a year to conduct novel investigations of auditory and vestibular function and dysfunction. All research proposals, both basic, translational and applied clinical in hearing and balance will be considered for funding. DRF wishes to stimulate research that leads to a continuing and independently fundable line of research.

Longaberger Foundation - Ohio
The Longaberger Foundation was established in 1997 by family members Dave, Tami and Rachel Longaberger to formalize their commitment to make a difference in the lives of others. The Foundation's mission is to stimulate a better quality of life through philanthropy. Rachel Longaberger Stukey serves as the Foundation's President. Lubbock Area Foundation - Texas
The Lubbock Area Foundation restricts its support to organizations in Lubbock and the surrounding South Plains area which are 501(c)(3) or the government equivalent. Grants may be made for start-up funding, general operating support, program support and demonstration programs. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, for political purposes, to retire indebtedness or for payment of interest or taxes. The Foundation has a separate grant program for K-12 schools in the South Plains area including both public and private schools. The intent of this program is to provide small grants to elementary and secondary school teachers to enable them to try out creative teaching techniques and buy enriching teaching materials which are not supported by school budgets. Brant Community Foundation - Canada
The Brant Community Foundation supports a wide range of local initiatives through their grant making programs - from health, education and social services to arts, culture, recreation and the environment. Preference will be given to applications that: address root causes; fill a gap or meet a need in the community; support capacity building to strengthen the organization and help them fulfill their mission; promote collaboration and sharing among agencies to reduce duplication of services.

Holland's Opus Foundation - National Focus
MHOF donates both new and refurbished instruments to school and after-school music programs that lack the resources to keep up with equipment loss due to attrition, depreciation and wear over time, and to accommodate students on waiting lists or who have to share instruments. The mission of the Roy A. Hunt Foundation is to support organizations that strive to improve the quality of life. The trustees of this family foundation meet semi-annually to make grants to nonprofit organizations engaged primarily in Arts and Culture, Environment, Health, Human Services, Community Development, and Youth Violence Prevention. Hyde and Watson Foundation - New York City & New Jersey
The Foundation supports capital projects such as hard costs related to purchase or relocation of facilities and/or building improvements, purchase of capital equipment, limited medical research, and other one-time capital needs. Broad fields include education, social services, arts, health, religion, and humanities. The current geographic areas of grant support are primarily the five boroughs of New York City, and Essex, Morris, and Union Counties in New Jersey.

Copland Fund
The Fund maintains three separate grant programs in support of contemporary American music, each with its own objectives and annual application deadline. Recording Program, Performing Ensembles Program, Supplemental Program (The Supplemental Program’s objective is to support non-profit organizations that have a history of substantial commitment to contemporary American music but whose needs are not addressed by the Fund’s programs of support for performing organizations and recording projects.)

U.S. Oil/Schmidt Family Foundation - Wisconsin & Midwest
Founded in 1985, the U.S. Oil/Schmidt Family Foundation, Inc. supports programs and organizations that offer opportunities to the disadvantaged, improve the quality of people’s lives, and strengthen communities. Grants are given to organizations based in the communities where we operate as well as organizations based in the Midwest that provide outreach to impoverished regions throughout the world. The U.S. Oil/Schmidt Family Foundation awards grants in the following categories: Education and scholarship, International relief, Health and human services, Community development, Arts and culture, Environmental stewardship. Proposals from non-profit agencies will be considered for programmatic, capital, and general operating needs.

William K. Warren Foundation - Tulsa, Oklahoma
The Warren Foundation is interested in its resources being used for programs that work to empower beneficiaries, not just serve them. The Warren Foundation funds a variety of programs and services whose relevancy and value have been identified by the community and work with other community members to create broad-based solutions to common issues. In addition, through the generosity and vision of William K. and Natalie O. Warren, the Warren Foundation provides financial assistance in support of worthy charitable, scientific, Catholic, and health programs dedicated to improving the quality of life. Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation - Oklahoma & National Focus
Through its grantmaking program, the Noble Foundation supports community projects and the activities of nonprofit charitable, educational and healthcare organizations. The Foundation make grants in a number of areas with primary focus on capital funding for higher education and on health research and delivery systems. Generally, the emphasis of the Noble Foundation's grantmaking is geographically focused on Oklahoma organizations and projects. If invited to submit a formal grant application, deadlines for receiving completed grant applications (not letters of inquiry) are Dec. 1, March 1, June 1 and Sept. 1. Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation - Tulsa, Oklahoma
The Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation is a broad-based funding foundation. However, areas of emphasis include Jewish causes, the indigent, the disenfranchised and the homeless. Besides funding the nonprofit sector, the Foundation also awards college scholarships and post secondary school scholarships to students based on financial need and aptitude for continuing education. Only students who have attended an Oklahoma high school and are under 28 years of age at the time of application are eligible for scholarships. Southern Oklahoma Memorial Foundation - Ardmore, Oklahoma
The Southern Oklahoma Memorial Foundation gives priority to grant requests that support medical or health-related issues and education. Other areas considered for grants include education, social services, and civic/cultural activities that contribute to the quality of life in Ardmore and the surrounding areas. To be considered for a grant, an organization must be headquartered, or have a physical presence, in Oklahoma within 50 miles of Ardmore and provide services within this area. Delaplaine Foundation - Multiple States
The Delaplaine Foundation is a private family foundation based in Frederick, Maryland, dedicated to the enrichment of communities and families within Maryland, nearby states and the District of Columbia. The following are some of the areas of special interest to Delaplaine Foundation. Please note that the Foundation is not limited to these areas and we encourage all eligible groups and organizations with a worthy cause to apply: Cultural Arts, Historical Documentation, Exhibition and Preservation, Higher Education, Spiritual Enrichment, Community Services, Health, Sciences, Other areas deemed appropriate by the trustees. The deadline for application for consideration of funding is November 1 of each year and grants are awarded in December.

Dewan Foundation - Chicago & International Focus
The Dewan Foundation was established in January 2000 following the completion of the sale of STATS. Inc. , a sports information company founded by John and Susan Dewan in the 1980's. The foundation provides financial support and assistance to organizations that provide direct services to people in poverty. Faith-based organizations are a focus of grant making. Self-help projects that transform lives are a special interest. Grants will focus primarily on organizations operating programs providing services within the City of Chicago and immediately surrounding suburbs, although efforts that address the needs of people in poverty overseas are also an interest.

Robert and Joan Dircks Foundation - New Jersey
The Robert and Joan Dircks Foundation focuses on programs and projects that provide opportunities to children and individuals who are physically, mentally or economically disadvantaged in New Jersey. The Foundation concentrates on small non-profit organizations that provide programs and projects that prevent or solve problems, rather than meet basic needs. The Foundation does not award grants for political or lobbying activities, environmental or cultural projects, capital or annual campaigns, endowments, operating budgets, deficit or debt reduction, loans or housing projects. Carrie Estelle Doheny Foundation - Los Angeles & National Focus
The Carrie Estelle Doheny Foundation primarily funds local, not-for-profit organizations endeavoring to advance education, medicine and religion, to improve the health and welfare of the sick, aged, incapacitated, and to aid those in need. Permian Basin Area Foundation is a community foundation serving a broad range of needs of the communities and individuals in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. The Foundation makes grants to qualified nonprofit organizations serving the Permian Basin region through which a broad range of philanthropic purposes are furthered and supported in the areas of education, arts and culture, health, social services, community development, and civic affairs. In addition to these broad purposes, certain Midland based organizations are eligible for grants from the Midland Housing Trust Fund to address needs for safe, clean and affordable housing.
