The MacArthur Foundation is one of the nation’s largest independent
foundations. Through the support it provides, the Foundation fosters the
development of knowledge, nurtures individual creativity, strengthens
institutions, helps improve public policy, and provides information to the
public, primarily through support for public interest media. The
Foundation has several programs that include International Program,

Deafness Research Foundation
- National Focus
DRF, the leading national source of private funding for basic and clinical
research in hearing and balance science, awards research grant awards of
up to $25,000 to researchers once a year to conduct novel investigations
of auditory and vestibular function and dysfunction. All research
proposals, both basic, translational and applied clinical in hearing and
balance will be considered for funding. DRF wishes to stimulate research
that leads to a continuing and independently fundable line of research.
Longaberger
Foundation - Ohio
The Longaberger Foundation was established in 1997 by family members Dave,
Tami and Rachel Longaberger to formalize their commitment to make a
difference in the lives of others. The Foundation's mission is to
stimulate a better quality of life through philanthropy. Rachel
Longaberger Stukey serves as the Foundation's President. The Foundation
has four areas of grantmaking focus: Promoting entrepreneurial principles,
Preserving American history and ideals, Strengthening families, Addressing
regional quality of life needs. To date, grants from The Longaberger

Lubbock
Area Foundation - Texas
The Lubbock Area Foundation restricts its support to organizations in
Lubbock and the surrounding South Plains area which are 501(c)(3) or the
government equivalent. Grants may be made for start-up funding, general
operating support, program support and demonstration programs. The
Foundation does not make grants to individuals, for political purposes, to
retire indebtedness or for payment of interest or taxes. The Foundation
has a separate grant program for K-12 schools in the South Plains area
including both public and private schools. The intent of this program is

MHOF donates both new and refurbished instruments to school and

infusion of instruments enables more students to participate and to
experience a quality music education. It is vital that efforts are made to
give youngsters every tool available within the small window of time when

inherent in learning to play music.

However, areas of emphasis include Jewish causes, the indigent, the
