Grant Writing For Dummies Beverly A. Browning; Paperback; Buy New: $15.39 Customer Review I was struggling through a master's level grant writing course and hitting snag after snag in my own grant writing project. The text books for the course provided contradictory and confusing information that on the whole did not apply to the actual process of grant writing. I gave up and purchased Grant Writing for Dummie. I only wish I had gotten this book earlier. The book is well organized and walks you through the often convoluted process of researching, writing and submitting grant proposals. I appreciated the clear writing and colorful examples of how to phrase and document a grant proposal. I recommended the book to the professor but he was less than enthusiastic about the idea of replacing the standard class textbooks. |

Proposals That Work : A Guide
for Planning Dissertations and Grant Proposals Lawrence F. Locke; Paperback; Buy New: $41.95 Customer Review As any graduate student will tell you acceptance onto a Ph.D program is largely based on submitting a successful proposal. Thereafter, as long as the researcher adheres to the proposal, graduation is virtually guaranteed. I am a Ph.D student who used the book to construct my proposal, which was summarily accepted by the research committee with minor changes. This appears to be contrary to what many Ph.D hopefuls experience. The book is expensive however I would highly recommend it. The proposal hurdle is well worth overcoming professionally. |

Winning
Grants: Step by Step, 2nd Edition Mim Carlson; Paperback; Buy New: $27.03 Customer Review I am a consultant, grantwriter, and trainer who specializes in technical assistance and training for HIV/AIDS services. I provide a copy of this workbook to participants in my grantwriting ("Bringing Home the Money!) workshops, because it's a good, basic overview of many of the different parts of the request for funding proposal. What's most useful about Carlson's book is that it provides a summary for participants and another way of explaining some of the things I teach. There are also good worksheets included in Carlson's book, designed to help first-time grantwriters grapple with the different proposal elements. Carlson also includes a CD-ROM with different forms that can also be helpful. |
