FAQs:
1. What is Fundsnet Services?
Fundsnet Services is a privately owned web site created to provide
information to nonprofit organizations, consultants and students seeking
information on grants, fundraising and scholarships.
2. How is Fundsnet Services funded?
Fundsnet Services is funded in part by revenue generated by advertisements
that appear on our web site and from time to time from donations from our
visitors. Fundsnet Services does not receive funds from foundations or any
other organization other than those mentioned above.
In the past we have received complaints about the number of advertisements that appear on our site. To those who have kindly emailed us regarding this we say - "Thank you for taking the
time to visit our site and from most of our visitors' perspective is better to offer a free resource site than to charge an annual fee to access the information." Of course that is always an option.
3. Does Fundsnet Services provide
grants or funds to nonprofit organizations or individuals?
No, we do not provide grants to nonprofit organizations or individuals -
we provide information on where you can find funding sources. We make
donations once in a while to our favorite organizations, i.e.
Holy Family Home and Shelter in Northern Connecticut.
4. How long has Fundsnet Services been
in existence?
Fundsnet Services was first published in 1996. From a historical
perspective, two years after Yahoo first went live, and one year before
Google went live and five years before the Foundation Center web site went
live.
5. How come Fundsnet Services does not
apply for a grant from a foundation?
Fundsnet Services is not a 501 (c) (3) organization and thus is not
eligible to receive grants. In 1997 we approached the Ford Foundation
(Program Related Investments) but according to one of the project managers
the Foundation was in conversations with the Foundation Center already.
6. What is the best way to find a
resource in Fundsnet Services?
If you are looking for a grant we suggest you start with the Regional Grants and Resources section and select the State or Region
where you are located at. Secondly, check the Community Foundations section, your third option is to search the Foundation Directory Alpha listings, and lastly, do a search using the search box at the top of our site. This search box will produce results on
a search of our web site. The search box at the bottom of each page is designed to search Google.
7. How is Fundsnet Services organized?
Fundsnet Services offers information via a combination of pages. Some of
our sections such as
Fundraising Articles,
Fundraising Directory, and most of the
Fundraising Programs pages are "static pages" (this means we
maintain them by hand). The vast majority of the web site sections are
dynamic pages - this means they are built on the fly (our program creates
the results when you click on a link).
8. How do we contact Fundsnet
Services?
The best way to contact us is by using the "Contact
Us" link at the bottom of each page. We usually respond to inquiries
in 24 - 48 hours.
9. Does Fundsnet Services exchange
links with other web sites?
This question is addressed to some visitors that have contacted us for the
purpose of link exchange. Having a background in Search Engine
Optimization, we know the advantages and disadvantages of link exchange,
especially three way linking. So no, we do not exchange links. If we find
a web site that offers information that might be of interest to our
visitors we link to them without asking for a link back in return. |
