A fun way to
raise funds for your favourite charity is to
organize a Casino Night. Casino Nights take
a bit of organizing and there are a few
points that need to be taken into
consideration.
-
The Law.
Check with your local
authority as to the regulations as to what
you can and cannot do. These regulations
will vary from place to place.
-
Find a Venue.
You will need to find a venue that is big
enough to house the casino equipment and
have room for reasonable number of guests.
Local community halls can be a good place.
-
Casino Hire.
You will need to hire some casino
equipment. A good place to look for this
is the Internet. Shop around for the best
price.
-
Croupiers.
One or more croupiers will be needed.
There are many people that offer croupier
services for this type of event and their
fees can be quite reasonable. Again, a
good place to look for these services is
the Internet.
-
Date and Time.
A date and time will have to be set for
the event. This should be far enough in
the future to enable you to promote the
event and sell enough tickets.
-
Prizes.
As legally chips cannot be cashed in for
real money, you will need some prizes. You
could buy the prizes but better still is
to get people and local businesses to
donate prizes. At the end of the event the
prizes can be distributed to the winners.
-
Set the Ticket Price.
This is where you will have to do your
sums. The idea is to raise as much funds
for your charity as possible. Use the
25:25:50 ratio to work out the ticket
price, 25% to cover casino costs, 25% to
cover purchasing prizes and 50% for the
charity. The simple way to do this is to
first calculate the total cost of the
venue, casino hire and croupiers. Multiply
this by 4 and divide the answer by the
number of guests you expect to attract.
This will give the individual ticket
price.
-
Promote the Event.
It is now time to
promote the event. Use every means
possible to promote it. Local press, local
radio, posters in strategic places etc.
Make sure the tickets are easily
available. You may be able to persuade
local shops to act as outlets for the
tickets.
-
Dress Code.
To make the event feel as authentic as
possible you might be a good idea to set a
dress code. Try to get your guests to
arrive dressed as though they were
attending a real casino.
Raising
funds for charity can be very rewarding. The
most important thing to remember is to have
fun doing it.
