The
Albert Schweitzer Fellowship
Since 1991 the Fellowship has fostered Reverence for Life in the United States through the
Schweitzer Fellows Programs, which provide service opportunities for aspiring health
professionals, who undertake projects worthy of emulation locally and nationally.
American Antiquarian Society
The AAS offers fellowships for historical research by creative and performing artists,
writers, film makers, and journalists. Fellowships are offered to people who wish to
produce creative works dealing with pre-twentieth century American history designed for
the general public. Fellows conduct research residencies at AAS, which houses the world's
preeminent collection of American printed materials before the twentieth century. In
addition, they will receive a stipend as well as travel expenses.

Arkansas Arts Council
the Arkansas Arts Council annually awards up to ten fellowships of $5,000 each to Arkansas
artists. The awards are in recognition of the artistic accomplishments of professional
artists who live in Arkansas, and they are intended to encourage Arkansas artists to
improve their skills and to further their careers.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation -
Minorities Fellowships
Here's how it works: each year, up to 35 students are selected as Bristol-Myers Squibb
Fellows by the Program Development Committee and awarded grants of $6,000 each. This
stipend enables each student to spend eight to twelve weeks on a research project of
interest under the guidance of an experienced biomedical researcher who acts as the
student's mentor and who may use up to $2,000 of the fellowship grant to cover the costs
of the internship.
The Brookdale Foundation
The Fellowship Program, established in 1985, seeks those who have the capacity to become
leaders in their fields and is part of our response to major demographic changes taking
place in society and a commitment to a national effort to train a new generation of
leaders in geriatrics and gerontology.

The Institute for Humane Studies is a unique organization that assists undergraduate
and graduate students who have a special interest in individual liberty. In 1997, IHS
awarded over $450,000 in scholarships to 83 students from universities around the world.
